The council has launched a consultation with residents and businesses on the introduction of Public Space Protection Orders in Cann Hall to crack down on anti-social behaviour, aggressive begging, use of threatening and insulting language or behaviour and street prostitution.
Breaches of these orders can result in the issue of a £100 fixed penalty notice, or a fine of up to £1,000 if prosecuted. The consultation closes on Sunday 23 April.
When the Cann Hall Focus Team spoke to residents about the consultation, some told us they are having issues with crime and anti-social behaviour on their doorsteps. Others don't like the idea of orders that could be far-reaching and illiberal.
Nearly all residents have one thing in common: they didn't know this consultation was even happening.
