Six to Fix
Our Vision for Waltham Forest in 2026
Our area has been let down by Labour for too long. They have cut the funding to rebuild Whipps Cross Hospital, closed the last police station front desk in the borough, and wrecked the local council's finances to the point of needing a £19m bailout from the Government. The elections in May are your chance to vote for a positive vision for our community. Here is our plan to get Waltham Forest back on track.
1) HEALTH
The Whipps Cross rebuild is years overdue. Labour have broken their promise to fund it in this Parliament. Instead, work has been delayed and it could be completed as late as 2038. We will push the government to fast-track the funding to begin building now.
2) CRIME
Waltham Forest is being left with zero walk-in police counters. We will campaign for the reopening of a 24-hour front desk, giving residents in-person access to the police.
3) HOUSING
We will use Empty Dwelling Management Orders to take action on long-term empty homes, and issue fines and notices to any housing association or landlord failing on repairs.
4) WASTE & RECYCLING
We will make sure any missed bin collection is rectified within 24 hours and provide families with an extra bin where needed. We will supply fox-proof food bins and full, multilingual recycling instructions with food waste bags.
5) ROADS & PAVEMENTS
We will introduce a rolling pavement inspection programme, with clear repair times for hazardous slabs and trip risks. We will implement a “Fix It Once” policy to stop repeated, poor-quality patching of potholes.
6) ENVIRONMENT
We will protect our local canopy with Tree Preservation Orders, increase the number of public bins, and expand CCTV coverage at fly-tipping hotspots.
