Lib Dems Applaud High Court Ruling Over Palestine Action Ban

The Liberal Democrats have welcomed the High Court’s ruling that the proscription of Palestine Action under terrorism laws was unlawful.

Home Affairs Spokesperson Max Wilkinson MP described the ban as a “grave misuse of terrorism laws,” arguing that placing the group in the same category as ISIS was disproportionate and a threat to civil liberties.

While we maintain that individual criminal acts like vandalism should be prosecuted under general law, peaceful protest must not be treated as terrorism.

This ruling is a vital victory for protecting democratic dissent and the right to protest.
