Prioritising and End to Domestic Abuse

8 Jun 2024

All the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidates in Waltham Forest stand with the Women's Aid campaign to prioritise tackling domestic abuse.

It is horrific that three women are killed each fortnight by a partner or ex-partner, that nearly 20% of crimes reported to the police are related to domestic abuse. We deeply believe in equality and while we know anyone can be a victim of domestic violence this is an issue that disproportionately affects women, and it is important that all politicians work to end violence against women and girls.

It is vital dealing with domestic abuse becomes a national priority. If elected we will commit to pushing for funding for specialist domestic abuse services, to support survivors, and to advocate for a transformation in attitudes to help prevent abuse in the future.
