Meet Ipek Ozerim
I have lived in Waltham Forest for most of my life and feel a deep connection to the borough and its diverse communities. I am passionate about playing a positive role in improving the lives of local residents, strengthening support for small businesses, and championing the vital work of community groups and shared spaces.
Professionally, I have nearly 30 years’ experience in public relations. Since 2006, I have run my own boutique culture and communications agency, working with a diverse range of clients—from charities and grassroots organisations to international corporations.
I am of Turkish Cypriot heritage and have been a keen advocate for the community for many years. In 2013, I founded T-VINE Magazine, a publication dedicated to British Turks and those interested in the world of Turks, from its culture to global affairs.
I joined the Liberal Democrats following the 2016 Brexit referendum, motivated by concerns about the divisive and highly xenophobic tone of the Leave campaign. I was drawn to the party’s pro-European outlook and commitment to openness, tolerance, and fairness.
Over the past six years, I have been an active member of my local party, currently serving as Press and Digital Officer, and previously as Diversity Officer.
I am committed to delivering positive change for all residents in Waltham Forest. This includes tackling key challenges such as the housing crisis, crime, and healthcare. I believe in local leadership that listens and responds to residents’ concerns—whether on issues like traffic impacts from Low Traffic Neighbourhood schemes or broader community needs. Above all, I want to see a council led with integrity, committed to equality, inclusion, and constructive engagement.
