Meet Jon Goddard

I grew up in Walthamstow, going to what is now Aveling Park School and then Monoux Sixth Form, playing lots of sport, including hockey in the under 21s for the school and the borough. I went to cubs and scouts in the Hoe St Ward and spent a lot of time in the Vestry House Museum where my godfather was the curator. This gave me a strong sense of community and a sense of pride in the area.

I joined the Liberal Democrats in 2023 and became a member of the committee at the same time because I believe they’re the only party to really care about equality, whether thats LGBTQIA+ rights or people with disabilities.

I want to see the area do better for everyone, but Labour have not done as stated here. At the last general election, they committed to rebuilding Whipps Cross hospital, now we are told that it won't happen until 2032 at the earliest. Chingford police station front desk closed – the nearest 24 hour front desk is now in Charing Cross. Walthamstow is also ranked as having some of the worst roads in the UK. I am standing for the Liberal Democrats because I want to see better schools, hospitals and roads for the community.
