Our plan for a fair deal.
Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote to elect a strong local champion who will fight for a fair deal for you and your community.
Meet Tara Copeland
Hi all, my name is Tara Copeland and I’m running to be your next MP for Leyton and Wanstead! I'm originally from Canada but have been living in the UK for nearly ten years, five of which have been in London. In 2021 I played for Leyton Orient Women’s team and quickly grew to have a strong connection to the local area.
I work as a freelance photographer having recently left the in the heritage sector and previously served as Policy Officer and Chair of the Young Liberals where I helped to develop the party’s policy on unpaid carers. I joined the Liberal Democrats in 2017 due to their strong stance on mental health services, equality and human rights, and our approach to tackling the environmental crisis.
As a passionate environmentalist, I believe that improving air quality is vital. I'm against the expansion of the Edmonton incinerator and extending the operating hours of City Airport. And I want to address the issue of homelessness in our area by campaigning to bring more of Waltham Forest’s 1,500 empty homes back into use.
I have seen the problems that crime and drug dealing have brought to the constituency and I am dedicated to finding solutions that help the community.
Leyton and Wanstead are great places to live but our area has been neglected for years by politicians that don’t want to listen to the needs of residents. I am running because I am committed to working hard to fix the issues that matter most to our community.
